Chessed

VOLUNTEERS
The chessed committee is looking for volunteers to contact when a chessed opportunity arises. Some chessed opportunities include calling a senior, delivering/packing food to deliver locally, blood drive volunteers, and more. We partner with local organizations such as the Jewish Community Council, Moriah Senior Center, NY Blood Center, and more.

We will email our volunteers when there is an opportunity, and if you are available, you can contact us in return. There is no commitment to be available.

Blood Drives

We host  3 blood drives a year that have one of the highest RSVP rates and one of the lowest no-show rates according to the New York Blood Center.

Thanksgiving Food Drive

Before Thanksgiving, MSJC partners with the JCC of WaHi to collect cans of food for the local food pantry. See below for this year's details.

Chanukah Toy Drive

Before Chanukah, MSJC holds a toy drive to collect toys and donations for local children in need.

COMMUNITY CHESSED OPPORTUNITIES

Jewish Community Council of Washington Heights

The JCC of Washington Heights (121 Bennett Ave) delivers Shabbat meals to local seniors each Thursday afternoon. We also distribute food to the broader community through our food pantry; hours vary. We are looking for volunteers for both programs. Spanish-language skills are particularly helpful for the food pantry!

For further information, or to sign up to volunteer, please contact acoleman@jccwhi.com
