SHULWORK

What is ShulWork?
ShulWork is a communal workspace (not affiliated with WeWork) in Mount Sinai Jewish Center’s social hall. With so many in our community working from home, having a place to work alongside friends, even quietly, can brighten up your day. We look forward to working with you!

When is ShulWork? How do I gain access into the building?
ShulWork will be open on Mondays and Thursdays, from 9:00am to 6:00pm.Our opening date is Thursday, September 8th, 2022.

Due to security precautions (particularly with our daycare), you will be buzzed into the building and receive a personal access code that will work for you during ShulWork hours. Please do not share your personal access code with others.

Please note: access is limited to the upstairs area of MSJC. Our downstairs area is off-limits during the day given it is used by our daycare.

How much will ShulWork cost?
The daily entrance fee for entry at ShulWork is FREE! A suggested donation of $5 for MSJC members and $8 for not-yet-members to help us cover expenses like our coffee station, extended internet costs, heating, etc. is apprectiated. You may pay via cash or Venmo @mtsinaishul.

What will the shul offer at ShulWork?
ShulWork will provide long tables with seating, extension cords and outlets, upgraded internet, water, a Keurig machine, K-cups, instant coffee, milk, sugar/sweeteners, tea, and a 3:00 p.m. bag of chips.

What will the noise level be like?
ShulWork will be divided into two sections, separated by the social hall wall divider. One section will be low volume and the other will be the silent section. In the low volume area, you can expect occasional quiet talking between friends or the occasional comment on  a Zoom call, but no extended conversations or active participation on Zoom for more than a minute or two. In the silent section, please remain silent.

Can I work at ShulWork if I will be an active participant on Zoom meetings?
We have a ZoomRoom reservation Google Sheet for the Memorial Room here. The cost is $1 per half hour of time, paid with your morning entry or at the time of your departure. Limit 2 hours/day.

What about lunch?
From 12:00 p.m.- 1:00 p.m., ShulWork will have lunch hour. Noise levels will be relaxed to full schmooze-volume in the low volume area, with card games available upon request from a gabbai. The silent section will remain silent during lunch hour. Feel free to store a cold lunch in the fridge in the Mothers’ room, have take-out delivered, or pop home to eat and come back.
